MaryAnne was surrounded by music from an early age as her immediate and extended family would sing, play guitar, piano, violin, and other instruments. At age seven, she began studying cello as part of the Suzuki Program in Amarillo, Texas under the guidance of Eleonora Lopez. Over the next 11 years, MaryAnne was first stand cello in school orchestras and the Amarillo Youth Symphony. Never one to shy away from a performance, she also began playing for church services and weddings.
In 2009, MaryAnne left Texas to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. While at W&L, she studied under Julia Goudimova, served as principal cellist for the University Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra, and participated in several ensembles. MaryAnne also deepened her understanding for, and appreciation of, music by studying music theory.
After college, MaryAnne came home to Texas where she has continued to play locally - both as part of ensembles like the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving and as a solo musician. Her formal training and performance experience allows her to pivot from classical and religious music to modern rock, folk, and pop. No matter the tune, she enjoys sharing her love of music with others.
